First Unitarian Church OmahaIt was a remarkable experience to deliver this week’s sermon for the First Unitarian Church in Omaha. Apparent in the congregation was a diversity of thinking and experience, combined with an innate curiosity and willingness to embrace the unknown. Those are all traits that aligned harmoniously with my sermon about the art of conversation. Conversation is not always as easy as it seems. It can take deliberate, difficult investigation of our attitudes to this art to tap into its richness. The reward of conversation, as I recognized in the congregation at First Unitarian Church, is that it gives us a sense of purpose in our lives and a path towards genuine, meaningful human belonging.
