It is interesting to see the ongoing evolution of healthcare education to acknowledge the non-clinical facets of a clinically positive and organizationally productive healthcare environment. The latest is Kaiser Permanente’s announcement that it will be launching its own medical school.
It is good news that healthcare education and the clinical environments in which these students will eventually practice have focused on reinvigorating a stale model. In some regards, such reflection and change is inevitable given the problems I mention in this post “18 seconds” and this post “Death. Again.” As part of that examination, diligent attention to the art of conversation is essential.
